Create Tables

Adding a New Table

  1. Access Tables: Click "Tables" in the main menu
  2. Floor Plan View: Click "Edit Floor Plan"
  3. Add Table: Click "+ Add Table"
  4. Table Number: Assign unique number or name
  5. Capacity: Number of seats (2, 4, 6, 8, etc.)
  6. Shape: Round, square, rectangular
  7. Position: Drag table to its physical location
  8. Zone: Assign to area (patio, main dining, bar, etc.)

Organize tables into zones for better management:

Main Dining

Primary seating area for most guests

Patio/Terrace

Outdoor seating with separate management

Bar Area

High-tops and bar seating

Private Room

Separate space for events and large groups

VIP Section

Premium seating with special service

Quick Service

Counter seating for fast turnover

Table Status

Each table displays its current status with color coding:

  • Available (Green): Ready to seat guests
  • Occupied (Red): Currently serving customers
  • Reserved (Blue): Upcoming reservation
  • Cleaning (Yellow): Being prepared for next guests
  • Blocked (Gray): Out of service temporarily
Pro Tip: Click any table to view details: server assigned, order total, time seated, and open checks.

Table Combining

Accommodate large groups by combining adjacent tables:

  • Select multiple tables on floor plan
  • Click "Combine Tables"
  • Create temporary larger table (e.g., Table 5+6 for 8 people)
  • System treats as single table for ordering and billing
  • Automatically uncombines when check is closed

QR Code Ordering

Enable contactless ordering with unique QR codes for each table:

Setup Process

  1. Generate QR code for each table (automatic in Dinnify)
  2. Print QR codes on table tents or stickers
  3. Customers scan to view menu and place orders
  4. Orders route directly to kitchen and POS
  5. Payment processed through app

Manual Assignment

Host/hostess selects table based on party size and preferences.

Automatic Assignment

System suggests optimal table based on:

  • Party size (avoid seating 2 people at 6-top during busy times)
  • Zone availability
  • Server workload balancing
  • Special requests (window seat, quiet area, etc.)

Waitlist Management

When fully booked, manage waiting customers efficiently:

  • Add to Waitlist: Capture name, party size, phone number
  • Estimated Wait: Automatic calculation based on table turnover
  • SMS Notifications: Alert guests when table is ready
  • Priority Queue: Bump VIPs or special occasions to front
  • No-Show Handling: Auto-remove guests who don't respond
